- Runde 1: You are an independent journalist with a moderately successful online presence. You have a received one offer from an independent online journalism outlet to become one of their core commentators. You have also received another offer from a prominent mainstream media outlet to be an investigative journalist with your own column in their publication.
THW choose to join the independent journalism outlet over becoming an investigative journalist at the mainstream media outlet. - Runde 2: A ‘duty to rescue’ law is a German law that means anyone who finds someone in need of medical help must take all reasonable steps to seek medical care and render best-effort first aid. A rescuer is not required to endanger themselves to provide aid. Alternatively, ‘good Samaritan’ laws don’t obligate a bystander to intervene, but protect them from legal culpability for the quality of care.
THP ‘duty to rescue’ laws over ‘good Samaratin’ laws. - Runde 3: The Graveyard is a community of ghosts who inhabit the same secluded cemetery. They span from 15th century couples to 18th century bachelors to women who died in childbirth in the 1900s. One night, the family that lives next to the cemetery is murdered, except for the toddler who manages to crawl to the cemetery, away from the killer. The Cemetery has the power to make the child invisible to the murderer, and could undertake raising him. Because the child came so close to death, the child is able to mutually interact with both the ghost plane and the real world.
TH, as The Graveyard, would chose to raise the child as their own. - Runde 4: THW mandate energy companies to open green energy compliant sister companies that substitutes at least 25% of the output of the original company.
- Runde 5: TH, as the Left, would strongly prioritise advocating for greater constitutional safeguards over advocating for individual policies regarding social justice.
- Novice Final: Chivalric Heroism is a concept popularised in medieval times, which has morphed into differrent heroic archetypes ever since. The stories feature an unlikely individual who is brave, has martial prowess and undertakes ordeals to save the weak from the tyrants or monsters.
THR the concept of Chivalric Heroism. - Halbfinale: THBT that generative AI companies (OpenAI, Anthropic etc) going public* will do more harm than good. *”Going public” refers to previously private companies starting to sell shares on the public market (i.e. the stock market).
- Finale: In the aftermath of WWII, a variety of programmes were implemented to deal with the fallout of the war in Europe. This included the US-funded Marshall plan, Soviet financial support, and the division of Germany into 4 regions, occupied by France, the US, the UK and the USSR. The Soviet-occupied region became the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). The other occupation zones unified into West Germany.
THPAW where the 4 occupied zones of Germany became and remained independent states along the lines of occupational zones. *Berlin would belong in its entirety to the German Democratic Republic.
